Dear waltzing Strauss enthusiasts,

Welcome to Cafe Charlemagne at the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein. The oldest cafe at this enchanting and picturesque little square. For over a century we have hosted many a Zoervleis connoisseur, history buff and of course, André Rieu devotee.

Did you know that André Rieu first performed his annual concerts at this square, before moving to The Vrijthof? Even now, his annual concert on Ash Wednesday draws much love and attention. It is the perfect finish to the festive week of carnival.

In honour of our “Mayor of July”, we have selected a special menu for you. We hope you enjoy your dinner and, of course, the concert!

Carpaccio - thinly sliced beef carpaccio with truffle mayonnaise, tomato, capers and rocket

Chorizo croquettes - with bread, olives, tomato, rocket and sriracha mayonnaise

Vegetable croquettes - with bread, olives, tomato, rocket and basil mayonnaise

Mains
Mestreechs Zoervleis - delicious local stew with a sweet and slightly sour flavour. Traditionally made with beef, but also available in a vegetarian variant with jackfruit.

Salad with soft goat’s cheese, dates, walnuts and mixed seeds.

Beef steak with herb butter, served with seasonal vegetables and a potato gratin.

Cod fillet with lobster sauce, served with seasonal vegetables and a potato gratin.

Dame Blanche - Vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and warm chocolate sauce

Crème Brûlée - Cold custard topped with a thin layer of caramellised sugar
